Proof of ownership
Council will accept a current Rates demand as proof of ownership for solar hot water building consent applications.
Resource consent
Your building consent will also be checked for compliance against the Resource Management Act 1991, and the Nelson Resource Management Plan (NRMP). Some common issues that occur are daylight controls and maximum heights. Have a look at Council's resource consent information online.
Fees
Council is required to collect levies for the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment, and BRANZ. These levies are based on the value of works and are explained in the Building Unit Fees and Charges.
