Draft Saxton Field Management Plan
Hearings completed
What happens next
The Saxton Field Working Party received 19 submissions in total and met on 23 June to hear in person from submitters. The Working Party is now amending the Plan, based on submissions, and will forward the draft Plan to both Councils for approval.
Background
A Draft Management Plan has been prepared for Saxton Field, which abuts Main Road Stoke and extends between Saxton Road East and Champion Road, encompassing land owned by both the Nelson City and Tasman District Councils.
Both Councils approved the plan for release to the public in 2007 but it was decided to delay the public consultation process until all freehold land at Saxton Field had been classified as recreation reserve to ensure full coverage by the Reserves Act 1977. The Minister of Conservation recently approved the reserve classification allowing for the public consultation phase.
