Development Contributions Policy
Meeting the costs of new development
Development contributions ensure that the cost of network infrastructure (roads, water, sewers, for example) that service our growing population is funded by those who cause the need for these works. The policy was part of the Long Term Council Community Plan, however Council decided to delay the adoption of a Development Contributions policy for six months following submission.
Council has since revised and consulted on the policy which has also been through the Audit New Zealand process. It became effective 1 January 2007.
For subdivisions after 1 January 2007, development contributions will be charged. For other developments, financial contributions (DIL) will apply.
The policy is in volume two of the LTCCP, however a copy of the policy can be downloaded.
