ferrying cars and passengers across Cook Strait, between
Picton (South Island) and Wellington (North Island). Ferry crossings take approximately three hours. The Kaitaki ship has room for up to 1600 passengers and is the largest ferry in New Zealand
waters.
Bluebridge Cook Strait Ferry
Four return sailings a day (except Christmas Day) between Wellington and Picton, more frequent during the summer. With a sailing time of just over three hours the Bluebridge service offers comfortable lounge areas, café style food, free movies and warm Kiwi hospitality. InterCity
The Intercity Coachline (www.intercitycoach.co.nz and email info@coachnet.co.nz),
as well as connecting with the Tranz Alpine Express
train at Greymouth Railway Station will take you from
Nelson to most centres in the North and South Island.
Intercity travel passes, valid for three months, from
